Declaration of Australian Migrants rights movement: Socially conservatives - Politically progressives
Declaration of Australian Migrants rights movement: Socially conservatives - Politically progressives Over recent years, and especially over the past two decades, Australia has experienced a clear leadership vacuum at the political class level. This vacuum has resulted in a steady decline in support for the traditional parties leading the country. This leadership vacuum is clearly evident when it comes to important issues that traditional parties marginalize, most notably: the alarmingly low representation of non-English-speaking immigrants in decision-making positions, attacks on family culture and moral values, and the foreign policies that follow blindly the major Western powers. In a country where immigrants born in non-English speaking countries make up more than 40% of the population, surprisingly, their representation in parliament is only 5%. This low representation means that their issues and demands are not brought up for public debate, hindering their participation in decision-making that affects their lives and futures. This lack of representation has profoundly negative effects on the lives of members of these communities, including increased racism and discrimination, reduced educational and employment opportunities, low quality of services, and a worsening sense of Social and economic isolation
